Stuttgart, Apr 23 (IBNS) After back to back titles at Indian Wells and Charleston, Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza finally suffered their first loss here at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Thursday.

Six long weeks of sensational tennis by the Swiss-Indo pair came to a halt in front of the hurdle posed by  Petra Martic and Stephanie Vogt, who themselves are a first-time pairing.

During these six weeks, Sania Mirza reached the No. 1 spot of the Double's WTA Tennis Rankings- an unforeseen feat by any Indian.

"Given the two teams' credentials, it was a David and Goliath-like victory. Hingis and Mirza went into the match 14-0 together and with 70 WTA doubles titles between them - 44 for Hingis, 26 for Mirza.", WTA reported in its official website.

Mirza and Hingis lost in straight sets of 6-3, 6-3.
