India draw 2-2 against S Korea

Ipoh, Apr 5 (IBNS): In their opening match of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament, India settled for a 2-2 draw against South Korea on Sunday.

India dominated the first half of the game with Nikkin Thimmaiah (10th minute) drawing the first flood and giving the side an early lead.

South Korea, however, bounced back with Hyesung Hyun (24th) and Seongkyu Lee (53rd) scoring twice to make the scoreline 2-1.

India equalised the scoreline with  VR Raghunath  netting one in the 56th minute of the game.

India is witnessing a new era under the coaching of Paul van Ass who has been recently appointed to the post.

The team is participating in a first major tournament under him.

In other matches of the day, Australia thrashed Canada 7-0 while New Zealand defeated Malaysia 4-2.

India will next meet New Zealand on Monday.
