Melbourne/IBNS: Amid the controversy over five Indian players' alleged breaking of biobubble protocol, the national team on Monday tested negative for Covid-19 ahead of the crucial third Test in Sydney, media reports said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday said all members of the Indian team including support staff tested negative for Covid-19 after undergoing RT-PCR tests.

The Indian team were caught in the middle of a controversy after five players Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini and Rishabh Pant were accused of going against the biobubble norms set by the Cricket Australia by dining at a restaurant in Melbourne on New Year's Day.

According to the protocols, the players can sit outside but can't dine.

The four-match Test series between India and Australia is evenly positioned at 1-1.

Both the teams will reach Sydney on Monday.

The third Test will be held on Jan 7.
