Kunal Thakkur: It’s disheartening to see shows wrapping up in three months

Mumbai: Actor Kunal Thakkur, who is part of Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Escaype Live, says that it’s upsetting to see how TV shows shut shop in a few months.

The actor says that at times the shows don’t get time to captivate the audience.

“I guess what I see is newer stories are being told as a lot of writers have turned producers. Even though they have to cater to their audience, at least efforts are being made. What is disheartening is that shows are not given time to perform and are wrapping up in three months also, which is sad for everyone,” he says.

The actor says that TV content has also evolved with time. “Everything changes with time. Saas bahu sagas had their own stint but it was about time newer genres came into being. Love stories are doing well which is great,” he says.

Kunal adds that TV characters become popular very quickly. “In television, it's not you but the character that works. This is a given fact and all TV actors must accept this. I used to find it funny when actors threw tantrums with the producer and writers. They wouldn't understand that it's not them that's working but the character that is working, which is created by the same people you're throwing tantrums with,” he says.

Meanwhile, talking about his series, Kunal says that he loved being part of it. “It wasn't a planned move honestly. I was busy with my tennis league which is in its 4th season when I got a call from Siddharth sir who is a dear friend. He knew how passionate I've been about acting and told me would you like to be a small but important part of my big dream,” he says, adding, “TV is a great medium but I will only do television if it's absolutely worth my time. As far as roles are concerned, I would like to play an army officer or a sportsman which I haven't played before.”
