Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday participated in actress Rachana Banerjee-hosted Didi No. 1, which is one of the most popular reality shows of the state.

Mamata, who is referred to as 'Didi (sister)', was called on by Rachana, who has been hosting Didi No. 1 for years, at the former's office Nabanna in January.

Though initially it was speculated that Rachana might join politics, she clarified that the meeting was about the Chief Minister participating in Didi No. 1, which is aired on Zee Bangla at 5 pm.

The shooting was held at Howrah Dumurjala Stadium on Wednesday.

As per reports, Mamata, who initiated a number of schemes focussing on women as an administrator, participated in the show along with dancer Dona Ganguly, singer Arundhati Hom Chowdhury.

While she was leaving the stadium after the shooting, the Trinamool Congress supremo said in a brief remark, "The shooting was excellent."

After becoming Chief Minister in 2011, Mamata initiated schemes like Kanyashree, Rupashree, Lakshmir Bhandar, which are the flagship programmes of the TMC government.
