‘Anything can happen’: Ankush Hazra teases chaotic celebrity cooking show ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’

Hosted by actor Ankush Hazra, the event offered the media and creators a glimpse into the format through a ‘Kitchen Takeover’, where the show makers offered few dishes to the audience as a playful spirit of the show reflected its true essence of comics and pranks.

Host of the show, actor Ankush Hazra, said, “The moment I heard the concept, I knew ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ was something very different. It brings together people who audiences already know and love, but puts them in a completely unfamiliar setting where anything can happen. And with such a diverse ensemble cast, there can never be a dull moment."

The announcement event revealed the show’s star-studded line-up, featuring Kanchan Mullick, Sreemoyee Chattoraj Mullick, Iman Chakraborty, Rupanjana Mitra, Darshana Banik, Prerana Das, Ushasi Ray, Sushmit Mukherjee, Sayan Ghosh, Saurav Das, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Shyamoupti Mudly and Anwesha Hazra.

“Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ is as much about the joy of cooking as it is about the people and laughter around the food. It's wonderful to see the cast get into the kitchen, experiment and have fun. There are some delicious dishes, a few unexpected ones, and plenty of chaotic moments that will make audiences smile", Chef Doma Wong added.

Directed by Raj Chakroborty, Chef Doma Wang and Chef Priyam Chatterjee will bring their culinary expertise to the show.

"The show is a completely new idea for Bengali television. The reason behind making this show non-fiction after so long, is that we all liked the idea of it. This show is basically based on a show called Worst Cooks in America and we've made it with their copyright. Like in the first episode, there is a lot of fun, cooking, emotions, and a lot of love as well", said director Raj Chakraborty.

The gathering gave guests an indication of the show’s central idea, where familiar faces step into the kitchen and cooking challenges are combined with humour, banter and unexpected situations. Staying true to its tagline, ‘Haashir Aanche Jombe Ranna’, where laughter adds the perfect flavour to cooking, ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni' brings together cooking and comedy.

Ambesh Tiwari, Business Head of Sony Yay and Sony Aath, added, “Raandhuni Na Kaanduni marks an important step in Sony AATH’s journey as we expand our content proposition with original unscripted entertainment, fiction and much more."

In a format where celebrity chemistry, unpredictable challenges and culinary experiments come together to create a different kind of kitchen experience, the show is set to premiere on October 3, on the television channel Sony Aath and OTT platform Sony Liv.
