Mumbai: Amal Sehrawat will be seen in a new TV show soon titled Harphool Mohini.

It’s a romantic drama that goes on air from June 14 on Colors at 9pm ( Monday to Friday) . Amal will play one of the lead roles in the daily soap.

“I am very excited like everyone else. I am really looking forward to the show. It’s a new show with a new concept and it's an amalgamation of Haryanvi culture and South Indian culture. Also, for the first time in my career I got a chance to play a specially abled character and there is a back story that led to my leg condition,” he says.

Amal adds that this character is very different from the roles that he has done earlier. “Till date I have only played either a positive character, who is absolutely positive, or a negative character that is absolutely negative. But Santook, my character in Harphool Mohini, is very human, and has grey shades. He has got various layers, he is loving, caring, giving at the same time there is sibling rivalry. His condition develops a complex within him which is directly contradicting his positive values and traits and makes him take wrong decisions at times,” he adds.

Amal has been shooting for the show for a while now. He shares that the team is like family and they have a lot of fun on the set.

“Everyone is nice so I can’t say who I am closest to in the show. It’s like when you ask somebody who is your favourite member in the family and the answer is everyone. I like them all… I enjoy working with Supriya ma’am, who is playing my mom. She is full of warmth. Harphool (Zebby Singh) is a grown up kid. Mohini ( Shagun Sharma)  is a kid who refuses to grow up. Sonali Nikam (Supriya Shukla) is a fabulous co-actor and comes with a lot of experience. I enjoy doing scenes with her. Tej Sapru sir is someone I have grown up watching so sharing screen with him is a real pleasure,” he says.

Amal feels his height is an advantage when it comes to the part he is portraying in the show. In fact, he shares that he was chosen for the role on the basis of his look, height and physique.

“The kinds of roles I get are generally tall, strong, bold and aggressive, macho, royal and that’s because of how I look. But this time fortunately I have got a rule which is totally different though I am tall and well built which is a plus but this character wanted something more out of me. For the first time I am playing a character which is totally opposite of my personality,” he adds.

Looking back at his career, Amal is happy to have reached this far. “I feel very nice. I feel that I have only moved upwards and onwards, and I think God has been very kind to me. Blessings of my parents, family members, love from my fans and friends have worked in my favour. I am getting different kinds of roles with every project and the journey has been very exciting. Fingers crossed!” he ends with a smile.
