New Delhi/IBNS: Upping the ante in the Lakhimpur Kheri issue, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reiterated his demand of sacking Union Minister Ajay Mishra whose son Ashish Mishra is accused of conspiring to kill protesting farmers, media reports said.

Gandhi, who is one of the topmost leaders in his party, wrote in his notice in Parliament in the morning as quoted by NDTV, "The UP police SIT report has highlighted that the massacre of farmers at Lakhimpur was a pre-planned conspiracy and not a negligent act."

"The government should immediately sack the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra, and ensure justice is delivered to the families of the victims," the Lok Sabha MP added.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) report, details of which emerged on Tuesday, stated the farmers were run over in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur allegedly by a SUV driven by Ashish Mishra with an intent "to commit murder".

Following the incident that led to the death of eight people, fresh violence broke out in the spot where more people including a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker were killed.

Ashish Mishra was arrested on Oct 11, three days after the Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction over the UP government's handling of the case.
