BCCI suspends Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul with immediate effect

Mumbai, Jan 11 (IBNS): The Committee of Administrators (CoA)  in accordance with the BCCI has decided to suspend Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul from playing any form of cricket after their comments on a TV show hosted by Bollywood filmmaker-producer Karan Johar.

The duo will now return to India and an enquiry and proceedings will be made against them for misconduct and indiscipline that have been initiated under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution.

In a statement, the BCCI stated: "In terms of Rule 41(6) of the BCCI Constitution, the players are hereby suspended with immediate effect from participating in any manner whatsoever in any match or function or event or activity that is authorized, organized, sanctioned, recognized or supported in any way by the BCCI, the ICC or any State Association, until final adjudication of the matter."

The CoA first sent out a notice to both players concerned to which they responded with an apology.

After considering their reply, it was decided that the BCCI would proceed against both for misconduct and indiscipline.

The duo is now called upon to provide an explanation as to why they should not be proceeded against for misconduct and indiscipline under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution within a period of 7 (seven) days.

"This is without prejudice to the BCCI’s rights and contentions, all of which are hereby expressly reserved," the statement said.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee will soon name their replacements for the ODI series against Australia and the tour to New Zealand.

What did Pandya, Rahul say?

When filmmaker-anchor Karan Johar on his show 'Coffee With Karan' asked Pandya why he doesn't ask for women's names at night clubs, the all-rounder said: "It is so much to talk man, so how can I remember the name also sometimes. It's so loud."

When the host insisted on what does the cricketer talk about, Pandya said: "Its not talking..Its watching and just observing how they move.....I am little from black side so I have to see how they move first...."

Both Pandya and Rahul talked about their sex lives. Rahul shared an experience of how he was caught with a condom by his mother.

Explaining how he is frank with his family, Pandya said: "My family I have been like I am open about everything. When I lost my virginity, I told my parents that aj kar ke aaya (I had sex today)." (sic)

"There was a party when my parents were sitting and they were asking tera wala kaun kaun hai (which girls are yours). I actually sat with them and said yeh yeh and yeh (this, this and this girl)...and my parents said wah, wah proud of you beta (son)," Pandya added.

After hearing Pandya, Karan said the cricketer's family was the "wildest".

Virat Kohli's Reaction:

Indian skipper Virat Kohli broke his silence on the row that has emerged over the comments made against women by KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya when they appeared in a popular chat show recently and said those were the personal opinions of the players.

"We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers don't align with those views,. Those were individual opinions," Kohli said during a press conference.
