Incheon, Sept 22 (IBNS): Ace shooter and Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra on Monday pulled trigger on his career when he announced his retirement from professional shooting.

India’s first and the only individual Olympic gold medalist in Olympics, Bindra will end his professional career tomorrow at Incheon Asian Games, where he will compete for the last time.

In his twitter account the Beijing gold-medalist announced that he is ending his professional shooting career.

He wrote, “Tomorrow will mark the end of my professional shooting life! I will however still shoot, compete as a hobby shooter training twice a week.”

Even though he has announced his retirement, Bindra indicated that he may still compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

“I will still try to be at Rio and my bio is now most appropriate! Great times and am sure there will be a few more,” he tweeted.

31-year-old Bindra will represent India in his pet event, the 10m air rifle event on Tuesday.

The ace shooter, who will turn 32 on September 28 had hinted at retirement just before he won the Commonwealth Games gold earlier this year in Glasgow.

He who won the 10m air rifle gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and a silver in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

In the mean time, Bindra’s announcement created rumors in the sporting fraternity.
