New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS): Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils on Saturday said England bowler Liam Plunkett will join the squad as a replacement for injured bowler Kagiso Rabada.

"We are glad to announce that @Liam628 will be joining the #DDSquad as a replacement for the injured @KagisoRabada25. He has loads of experience and hits the deck hard. Can't wait for him to join the lads soon!#DilDilli #Dhadkega," the IPL franchise tweeted.

The latest edition of the IPL will begin from Saturday.

"Plunkett has featured in 13 Tests, 65 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 15 T20 Internationals for England so far. This will be Plunkett’s first stint in the VIVO IPL. He was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list," read the IPL website.

Delhi Daredevils open their VIVO IPL 2018 campaign with a game against the Kings XI Punjab at Mohali on Apr 8.

South African pace sensation Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the 11th edition of the IPL due to a lower-back stress reaction, media reports said.

He will have to nurse his injury for three months.

Rabada was bought by Delhi Daredevils, an IPL franchise, at the auction at INR 4.2 crores.

Expressing regret to miss out from the T20 tournament, Rabada tweeted, "Not happy to be out of the @IPL. However, life moves on. It’s been a long season of cricket, and I can’t wait to be fit again. To the @DelhiDaredevils team, give it ‘ horns ‘. Time to rest."
