South Africa beat India in Johannesburg, stay alive in series
Johannesburg, Feb 10 (IBNS): South Africa made a strong comeback in the bilateral series against India by winning the rain interrupted fourth ODI match at the New Wanderers in Johannesburg on Saturday.
South Africa have registered a win over India by five wickets by Duckworth-Lewis method.
Chasing a revised target of 202 runs in 28 overs, South Africa reached home comfortably with more than two overs to spare.
David Miller (39), Heinrich Klaasen (unbeaten 47) and Andile Phehlukwayo (unbeaten 23) made the game look easier for the hosts.
Rising on a marvelous hundred runs knock by Shikhar Dhawan, India had posted a total of 289/7 in 50 overs.
After losing Rohit Sharma quickly, it was the partnership between Dhawan and skipper Virat Kohli which had constructed the Indian batting.
Both the batters put up a partnership of 158 runs for the second wicket.
Though Kohli, very unlikely, fell short of 25 runs from his 35th ODI century, Dhawan didn't miss the opportunity.
The left handed opening batsman scored 109 from 105 balls. He went for 11 fours and 2 sixes.
Though Indian middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed cheaply, MS Dhoni played the finishing role yet again.
Coming out to bat at the 37th over, Dhoni made small partnerships with Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar to push the Indian total close to 300.
With no major support from the lower middle order batsmen, lone fighter Dhoni has once again proved that he is still one of the best finisher in the cricket world.
Dhoni remained unbeaten at 42 from 43 balls.
Kagiso Rabada and Lungisani Ngidi were the best bowlers for South Africa. Both of them picked two wickets each.
Despite the loss, India still lead the six-match ODI series 3-1.
