Kohli slams fourth double in test, surpasses Bradman : India 687/6 declared against Bangladesh

Hyderabad, Feb 10 (IBNS) : A record breaking double century by skipper Virat Kohli-his fourth in test career-and a brace of tons by opener Murali Vijay and wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha helped India to pile up a staggering 687 before they declared the first innings with four wickets in hand on the second day of the one-off test match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on Friday.

In reply, the visitors scored 41 runs losing one wicket when stumps were drawn for the day.

Kohli, who bludgeoned the Bangladesh bowling, scored 204 off 246 balls. His innings wpas embellished with 24 boundaries.

He  became the first batsman to score four double centuries in four successive series after he went past the 200-run mark.

He thus surpassed Sir Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid, who scored three double tons in three successive series.

Much before Kohli took charge, India had a disastrous start with opener Lokesh Rahul going back to pavilion when the team's total was only two. But his partner   Murali Vijay, who scored a century and Cheteswar Puraja laid a solid foundation for the team, having piled up 178 runs in the second wicket.

Murali's aggressive 108 came off as many balls while Pujara held the anchor, scoring a patient 83.

After Ajinkya Rahane got out scoring 82, Saha came in and joined Kohli in leather hunting to score an unbeaten 106, his second in test career.

For Bangladesh Taijul Islam was the most successful bowler, having bagged three wickets, though at the cost of 156 runs.

After Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar was out at his individual 15 and the team's 38l, Mominul Haque joined Tamim Iaqbal. Both are at the crease with one and 24 respectively.
