New Delhi, Nov 8 (IBNS): In a major development, the Supreme Court on Tuesday permitted the BCCI the release of 58.6 lakh to the Saurashtra Cricket Association in order to host the first Test match between India and England.

The first match of the series will be played in Rajkot.

The BCCI earlier said the match might be cancelled in case the funds were not released, media reports said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court, seeking funds to host the first test match against England in Rajkot, reports said.

The apex court has frozen the disbursement of funds from BCCI's to other affiliated boards till the governing body comply with the Lodha panel recommendation.

Meanwhile, Gopal Sankaranarayanan, secretary of the Lodha panel has told media that the BCCI and the member boards are yet to submit a compliance report.
