England set 156 target for West Indies in T20 final for Men

England looking for second World Cup in T20 after  2010 conceded wicket at regular interval. Only Joe Root defied the accurate bowling and brilliant fielding of their opponent West Indies, also the winners of 2012 edition.

West Indies, deciding to chase after winning the toss, grabbed England’s first wicket in the very second ball when leg-break bowler  Samuel Badree bowled Jason Roy (0), who had fumbled in the first ball.

In the second over pacer Andre Russell followed the footstep of Badree and took Alex Hales ((1) wicket forcing him to give catch in the safe hand of Samuel Badree. England Lost  first two wickets in 8 runs in 1.5 overs.

The collapsing of England did not stop there for Badree’s accuracy and this time skipper Eoin Morgan (5) was his prey.  Morgan failed to read the line of Badree’s delivery and gave  a simple catch to first slip at Chris Gayle.

WI skipper Darren Sammy, who read pitch well in Delhi against India and this time at Eden, offered 35-year-old Badree to complete his all  four overs in one spell conceding ( 4-1-16-2) 16 runs with two wickets, the best spell in this current T20 tournament.

However, England’s  Joe Root and Jos Butller arrested the slide for them and began collecting runs together.

In first ten overs England reached 67/3. Their combination was broken when Jos Buttler was  out on 36 ( 22-ball with one four and three sixes) as he tried to hit a big but fell short off Carlos Brathwaite delivery and Dwain Bravo held the catch. Joe and Jos partnership was 61 in 46-ball in 4th wicket.

England’s fresh slide began as Ben Stokes ( 13) and Moyeen Ali (0) got out quickly in Dwain Bravo’s successive deliveries.  West Indies began to celebrate wickets in traditional style running on the field.

West Indies hit hard again on England batting line when hard hitter Joe Root (54 in 35 ball with seven boundaries ) was out while trying to hit off Carlos Brathwaite giving a lofty catch to Suleman Benn. 

Carlos Brathwaite finished  with 3 for 23 runs followed by Dwain Bravo finished with three  wickets in 37 runs.

West Indies are in the throes of winning triple crown as their women earlier today emerged world champions beating Australia by 8 wickets.

  Their under 19- boys won the world championship in Bangladesh last month.
