Australian Open: Mahesh advances, Leander crashes out

Melbourne, Jan 20 (IBNS): Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhaupati and his doubles partner Gilles Muller moved to the next round by defeating local pair of Alex Bolt and Andrew Whittington in the ongoing Australian Open on Wednesday.

Mahesh and his doubles partner beat their opponents 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4.

Other Indian Tennis icon Leander Paes , however, crashed out of the tournament.

Paes and his men's doubles partner Jeremy Chardy  were defeated in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 by Colombian pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah.
