French Open: Djokovic, Federer reach third round

Paris, May 28 (IBNS): Serbian tennis star and former champion Roger Federer cruised to the third round of the French Open on Wednesday.

Djokovic reached the third round of the tournament by beating Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 on Court Chatrier here.

In the other second round clash of the men's singles event,  Roger Federer of Switzerland defeated Argentine qualifier Diego Sebastian Schwartzman  6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Czech tennis player Tomas Berdych reached the third round by beating Ukrainian Aleksandr Nedovyesov 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.

Local lad Jo-Wilfried Tsonga  thrashed  Austrian left-hander Jurgen Melzer 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 on his way to the third round.
