They are the third and fourth doubles teams to qualify for the year-end event set to be staged at the Singapore Sports Hub October 23 through November 1.
“The doubles field for the 2015 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global is taking shape, with two more outstanding teams booking their place in the season-ending finale,” said Stacey Allaster, WTA Chairman and CEO.

“Ekaterina and Elena are the first team to qualify who have played together at the WTA Finals and Casey and Yaroslava are a new dynamic team fans will love to watch. I look forward to fans enthusiastically welcoming them to Singapore.”
Makarova and Vesnina will make their third consecutive appearance at the WTA Finals, with their best result coming in 2013, when they finished runners-up to Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-Wei. The Russian duo has had a successful 2015, reaching three finals - at Wimbledon, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and Miami Open - falling to Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza each time. They also reached the semifinals at the Qatar Total Open - Doha, Roland Garros and Aegon International - Eastbourne.
The collaboration between Kazakhstan’s Shvedova and Australian Dellacqua began earlier this year at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they clinched their debut title as a doubles pairing. Following that initial success, the duo went on to reach the final at Roland Garros, Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati and the US Open. This will be Shvedova’s third WTA Finals appearance having qualified in 2010 and 2011 with Vania King. Dellacqua will be making her WTA Finals debut.
The newly qualified teams will be joined in Singapore by Martina Hingis/Sania Mirza and Lucie Safarova/Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
The 2015 WTA Finals features the top 8 doubles teams competing for the WTA Finals Martina Navratilova Trophy, while the top 8 singles players compete for one of the most prestigious trophies in women’s tennis, the Billie Jean King Trophy. With a record $7 million in prize money on the line, the round-robin singles and doubles competitions will be the highlight of the 10-day tennis festival that will also include the WTA Legends Classic, WTA Rising Star Invitational and a fan festival.
