Ghosh Yoga Institute Japan student awarded "Padma Bhusan"
Jibananda, who is now on a visit to India, informed that 99-year- old Misumi, who learned yoga when the Institute was set up in Tokyo more than four decades ago, was given this prestigious award for his contributions and continuous work in fostering Indo-Japan cultural ties and spreading Indian yoga in Japan.
Misumi at present is the Director of Indo- Japan Association in Tokyo.
Jibananda said GYIJ on this unique achievement organized a felicitation for Misumi, its senior most student at its head quarter i in Tokyo. Speaking at the felicitation Misume said this award was indeed a very big honour for him as well as Japan.
He informed that regular practicing of Yoga has given him the long life and energy for which he is grateful to Ghosh Yoga Institute and its founder Jibananda.
Misumi felt this award would improve the cultural ties and bridge of friendship between India and Japan further.
He would continue to work for enhancing Indo-Japan relations and spreading Indian yoga in Japan through GHIJ, Misumi added.
Indian Yoga Guru informed that like major international sports events in Japan earlier, the students of Ghosh Yoga Institute after learning Indian Yoga are imparting the same to the Japanese trainers and coaches of various sports disciplines who in turn are utilizing the same to improve the performance of the potential athlets and players of Japan for the summer Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo during 2020.
Jibananda along with Karuna , who died a few years back, wrote a number of books in Japanese language on Yoga and Ayurvedic food to keep body and mind healthy.
The Indian embassy in Tokyo during last International Yoga Day distributed seven hundred such books to Yoga enthusiasts through Indian embassy in Tokyo.
Commenting on spreading of yoga abroad , Jibananda said that initiated by great Indian Yoga Guru Bishnu Charan Ghosh, he along with his wife set up Ghosh Yoga Institute Japan in Tokyo about 45 years back for teaching Indian Yoga which has now become very popular as it helps to create a healthy body and mind.
From Tokyo it soon got spread in different parts of Japan and other countries including Australia, New Zealand, Italy and USA. The GHIJ is now actively associated with Japanese Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Justice and Public Prosecution Office in Japan in imparting Yoga lessons among their officials.
Jibananda in his endevour to teach yoga is now helped by his two sons Angshuman Ghosh and Bholanath Ghosh and daughter Anchita Karmakar.. Dr.Anchita, who now practices medicine at Canbera, Australia, is also on a unique mission to combine Indian Yoga and modern medicine for treating people and guiding them to maintain a healthy body and mind, Jibananda said.
Jibananda, who is also a teacher and “Black Belt “ holder in Judo and other forms of martial arts including Karate, Jiu Jutsu and Aikido, advocates women empowerment by learning yoga and other martial arts.He intimated that he is always ready to provide his expertise in teaching men and women self- defence through these techniques so that they can defend themselves if attacked.
