Former Delhi top cop Neeraj Kumar appointed BCCI's anti-corruption consultant

Mumbai, Apr 20 (IBNS) Former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar has been appointed as a consultant to further strengthen the anti-corruption unit of the BCCI, officials said on Monday.

The decision was taken during the first meeting of the newly constituted IPL Governing Council which was held in New Delhi on Monday.

"The GC supported the recommendation of President, BCCI, to propose the appointment of Mr. Neeraj Kumar, former Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Mr. Madhusudan Sharma, IPS as consultants to further strengthen the Anti Corruption unit of BCCI,"BCCI Secretary 
Anurag Thakur said in a statement.

IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla briefed the house on the positive response received on the IPL Fan Parks and the house recommended that BCCI should plan for more venues in the next season.

"The GC also recognized the momentous occasion of the IPL celebrating its 500th match at Brabourne Stadium (Cricket Club of India, Mumbai) on 3rd May 2015 between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils," read the statement.

"The GC also supported the proposal of the Chairman, Mr. Rajeev Shukla, to consider supporting the blind cricket team of India, who recently won the World Cup.  The proposal is recommended to the Working Committee of the BCCI," Thakur said.

The GC finalized the venues for Playoff matches this season:

20th May : Eliminator at Pune

22nd May : Qualifier 2 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

24th May: Finals at Kolkata

The venue for the Qualifier 1 on 19th May will be decided shortly.
