Kashmir's soccer star Danish Farooq in Indian football team for Bahrain, Belarus fixtures

Srinagar/IBNS: Top football star of Kashmir Danish Farooq has made another giant stride on Tuesday after he was named in Indian football team camp for the upcoming international friendlies.

In this season, Danish played in the Indian Super League (ISL) for Bengaluru FC  and his all-round performances impressed the Indian National football team coach Igor Stimac.

Anwar Ali along with Danish Farooq were named in the 38 member Indian National team camp for the upcoming friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus.

Danish and Anwar are potential replacements for the star footballers Sunil Chhetri and Ashique Kuruniyan after the pair pulled out from the national camp.

In  the 17 matches played, Danish scored three goals and had two assists, while he went on to attempt 66 tackles and averaged almost 20 passes per game.

The transfer from Real Kashmir FC also made 16 blocks and eight interceptions in 1,080 minutes of action.

The selected players are scheduled to assemble in Pune from March 10, while their training will start from the next day.

The Indian side is scheduled to play Bahrain on March 23, and Belarus on March 26.
