London, Mar 25 (IBNS): Former England captain Michael Vaughan on Monday backed wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to get a chance in the Indian World Cup squad.

Pant played a heroic knock of 17- ball 53 against Mumbai Indians on Sunday night.

The young Indian wicket-keeper plays for Delhi in the Indian Premier League.

He had earned criticisms from fans on Twitter after his tough time behind the stumps in the last two ODI matches between India and Australia recently.

Vaughan tweeted: " 50 off 17 balls for @RishabPant777 ... #IPL2019 ... No idea why he keeps getting criticised In India ... Just let him play the way he plays."

When asked by a fan about Pant's chances of getting a place in the World Cup squad, Vaughan said: "Might .. he is on the plane now .. always was for me."
