More than 2000 participate in ‘Run for Rio’

Kolkata, Aug 5 (IBNS): As the world’s biggest sporting extravaganza begins, more than 2000 people participated in the ‘Run for Rio’ campaign in Kolkata.

Two  Olympians  from two generations -veteran soccer striker  Tulsidas Balaram, who played for the country in 1956 Rome Olympics and  Rifle Shooter  Jaydeep Karmakar, who represented India in 2012 London Olympics,   inaugurated the run in presence of SAI Director  M Goendi.

 Students taking part in the Students taking part in the 'Run for Rio' event organised by SAI, Eastern Centre.

SAI Coach Aparesh Sarkar  informed that  about 2500 persons, including students, SAI trainees, coaches and officials as well as police, CRPF and military personnel based in Kolkata  took part in the run which began from  the main gate of  SAI  centre  and  went to Central Park  in Salt Lake city before returning to where it started.
