Kolkata, June 28 (IBNS) Celebrated fashion designer Sharbari Datta feels she was not as smart and intelligent as the present generation of girls during her campus and coffee house days.

Talking to IBNS after the ‘Next Nandini’ beauty pageant contest,  an unique talent hunt to find the perfect woman from among young professionals, the famous designer of men’s wear says there is a perceptible shift in the attitude and style sense of today’s generation of girls from that of past.

“All these  top five contestants of Radio One Next Nandini scored high on confidence category and how to carry their attires. They know what they are doing and don’t need any prompting. They will make it big in whichever field they are comfortable with,” she says.

Besides Sharbari, singer Ujjawani, young actor Bonny Sengupta and elocutionist-actor Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee were the judges in final round.

Popular actor Abir Chatterjee,  having anchored the show, says he made it clear the Next Nandini won’t be just another beauty contest.

“We looked for confident women who can merge their personal and professional lives. External beauty was not the criterion. And I found possibility in many of them foraying into film worlds,” the on-screen Byomkesh says.

“For me social media has lots of benefits. And it is configured with your android set these days. Social media has altogether changed the definition to be connected in this world,” one of the contestants say to a question.

Hailing from a diversified background the girls were from banking, medical, teaching In college, student sector and showed walking on the ramp with costumes only add-up to the confidence and make you a real embodiment of Nandini.
