Bengaluru/Bhopal/IBNS: Making the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s return to power in Madhya Pradesh just a matter of time almost, 19 rebel Congress MLAs have submitted their resignations to Governor Lalji Tandon.

The rebel MLAs are presently at a resort in Bengaluru.

Former Union Minister and parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia has also left the Congress party.

The Congress-led Madhya Pradesh government fell into a crisis after more than 17 MLAs flew out to Bengaluru, a city in the BJP-ruled Karnataka.

The current strength of 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly is 228.

Out of 228, the Congress and its allies have 121 seats while BJP has 107 seats.

After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Scindia on Tuesday resigned as the Congress leader.
