Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam government is going to introduce a new law under which the government teachers would not be transferred for 10 years from their joining district.

The state government is going to introduce the new law in the ongoing budget session of Assam assembly.

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the government will introduce a new law for the transfer and appointment policy of the school teachers.

The minister said that, under the law, it will be mandatory for the teachers to serve 10 years in the particular district where they have joined and if any government official has been found for violation of the law they will be punished with rigorous imprisonment for three years.

The Assam minister said that the provisions of the new law will not be applicable for the mutual transfer.

He also added that the government will soon implement Teacher Accountability Commission (TAC) in the state.
