New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave four weeks to the Centre to file a response to the new petitions challenging the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), media reports said.

The top court has refused to put a stay on the citizenship law for now. It said only a constitutional bench will put a stay on the law.

As many as 144 petitions with most of them seeking the declaration of the law as "unconstitutional" have been filed.
