Mumbai/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lashed out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over a "Free Kashmir" poster which was spotted during a protest here against the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) violence which took place on Sunday evening.

In a video shared by ANI, a woman was seen holding a poster reading, "Free Kashmir" amid the "Azaadi" slogan in the background.

Hitting out at Uddhav, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis tweeted, "Protest is for what exactly? Why slogans of “Free Kashmir”? How can we tolerate such separatist elements in Mumbai? ‘Free Kashmir’ slogans by Azadi gang at 2km from CMO? Uddhav ji are you going to tolerate this Free Kashmir Anti India campaign right under your nose???"

Reacting to the incident, Sena MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut said the talks of freedom won't be tolerated.

Raut, however, also said he read in newspaper that the woman holding the poster was talking about free internet and mobile services in the valley.

The country witnessed widespread protests against the JNU violence which was carried out by a huge number of masked men who had vandalised the campus, entered girls' hostel, attacked students including students' leader Aishe Ghosh and a professor named Sucharita Sen.
