Ex-Congress Minister Singhi Ram joins BJP

Shimla, Apr 27(UNI) Former Congress Minister Singhi Ram joined BJP on Saturday and was welcomed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur at circuit house Mandi in presence of number of supporters.

Deserting Congress Singhi Ram met the Chief Minister in presence of Member of Assembly from Ani Mr Kishori Lal and applied for BJP membership.

He remained Food and Civil Supply and Horticulture Minister in Virbhadra Singh cabinet between 2003 to 2007.

He was elected from Rampur reserved Assembly seat in 1982, 1985, 1990, 1993, 1998 & 2003.

He also the chairman of committee on welfare for Schedule caste and Schedule Tribe for two years..

He served as the member of public accounts committee, public undertaking and other legislative committee during the member of assembly.

He also remained as member of State Civil Corporation.

He was suspended by the Congress party after he was booked in fake degree case registered against him and former Chairman of Himachal Pradesh School Education board as Congress rebel's fake degrees complaint was registered.

In 2008, Singhi Ram and former Chairman of Himachal Pradesh School Education Board BR Rahi were arrested by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau on allegations that Singhi Ram had procured a fake mark sheet for his daughter, who failed in class XII examination, for admitting her in a Delhi college.
