Lok Sabha to resume work today

New Delhi, Apr 2 (IBNS): The Lok Sabha, which was adjourned on Wednesday over the ruckus by several opposition parties, will resume its business on Monday.

On Wednesday, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had adjourned the house till Monday.

Eventually, the house stayed adjourned on two working days-Thursday and Friday.

The logjam is continuing in both the houses of the parliament-Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha-since the resumption of the budget session on Mar 5.

Several opposition parties are stalling the proceedings in the parliament over a number of issues ranging from Cauvery river water to Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam.

The no-confidence motions, which were brought by the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally partner Telegu Desam Party (TDP) along with YSR Congress, Left and Congress, are yet to be tabled in the parliament due to the logjam.

The TDP had left the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which runs the central government, over the demands of a special status for Andhra Pradesh.

The scenario has been no different in the Rajya Sabha. However, on Wednesday, the upper house had functioned as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress MP and opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and other leaders had delivered their farewell notes to the retiring Rajya Sabha MPs.

The second phase of the budget session has almost been a washout so far.
