New Delhi/Srinagar, Aug 1 (IBNS): Reacting to the killing of Lashkar chief Abu Dujana in an encounter on Tuesday morning in Pulwama district, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah said security forces did a commendable work.

While interacting with the media, Abdullah said: "Security forces have done a commendable work. Hope we all can live in peace in the state (Jammu and Kashmir)."

In a major setback for Pakistan based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, its Kashmir chief Abu Dujana were among the three militants killed in a gunfight with security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Hakripora village, security forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area, a police official said.

The militants opened fired during the operation, prompting retaliation from the forces, which triggered a gunbattle resulting in the death of Dujana and other two associates, including a young local boy, identified as Arif Lilhaari, who recently joined the group.

Meanwhile, intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near and around the encounter site, sources said.
