Assembly elections 2017: Uttar Pradesh first phase polling sees nearly 39 per cent turnout

Lucknow, Feb 11 (IBNS): In the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly election on Saturday, nearly 39 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till one pm, according to media reports.

Around 11am, the average polling was 24.5 per cent, media reported.

About 40 per cent votes have been polled in Meerut until one pm, media reported.

The first phase of polling involves 73 of the state’s 403 assembly constituencies, spread across 15 districts in the western part of the state.

In the first phase, there are 839 candidates, those from BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance as well as the Rashtriya Lok Dal and independents.

Agra South has the maximum number of candidates, 26  while Hastinapur has the least, six.
