Jhabua, Sept 13 (IBNS): The cause of the powerful explosion near Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district on Saturday, which left about 90 people dead, was a short circuit at a shop where gelatine sticks were stored, police said on Sunday.
Earlier, it was believed that a gas cylinder exploded at a restaurant and resulted in the mishap.

Following the assertion of the cause behind the blast, the police have booked the owner of the shop where the gelatine sticks, used for mining, were stored.

However, the shopkeeper is on the run. His shop and house have been sealed.

The explosion at Sethiya Restaurant, situated near a bus stand in Petlawad town, took place around 9 on Saturday morning. The single storey building housing the restaurant collapsed under the impact of the huge explosion.

A number of adjacent buildings were also damaged.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit the blast site on Sunday

Earlier, he had announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of those killed and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.
