It's time to salute mothers again!

New Delhi, May 8 (IBNS): All sons and daughters across the globe on Sunday flooded their mothers with immense love, care, emotional messages and gifts as they celebrated the Mother's Day.
The day witnesses honouring of mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Mother's Day is the occasion to make mothers realize once again the important role she plays in the life of a child in rearing him to a matured human being.

On this Mother's day, popular search engine Google on Sunday marked the day with a colourful Doodle on its homepage.

The doodle showcases two pairs of shoes, one of the mother and the other belonging to the child that follows the mother wherever she goes.

The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century. It is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration (originally a celebration of the mother church, not motherhood). Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

The day provides every child an opportunity to make his/her mother feel special for the crucial role she plays in his/her life.
