India adds new 6,566 Covid-19 cases, registers 194 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: India, the Asian country comprising 28 states and six union territories, reported 6,566 new Covid-19 cases and 194 deaths in the last 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

With the addition of new cases, the Covid cases in India jumped to 1,58,333.

With the new 194 deaths, the toll now stands at 4,531.

Maharashtra, where the financial capital of the country Mumbai is located, is the worst affected region adding more than one-third of the total Coronavirus cases in India.

The western state has so far reported  56,948 cases including 1,897 deaths.

India has already entered into the last week of the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown which is due to end on Jun 1.

Even before the expiry of the lockdown 4.0, Himachal Pradesh on Monday extended the shutdown till Jun 30.

According to several media reports, the central government is likely to extend the lockdown by two more weeks keeping the focus on several Coronavirus-affected cities besides continuing with the relaxations already offered to various sectors.
