Florida airport shooting leaves five killed, suspect in custody

Miami, Jan 7 (IBNS): In shocking incident, a lone gunman opened fire at Fort Lauderdale airport in Forida, USA on Friday, leaving at least five killed and about 40 people injured.

All the injured have been taken to hospital.

"This is a fluid situation. 5 dead. 8 initially injured. 37 others injured after incident. All injured taken to BHMC & Memorial Regional," The Broward Sheriff's Office tweeted.

The suspect of the gun attack has been taken into custody.

"@browardsheriff Scott Israel: Suspect was taken into custody w/o incident," tweeted the Broward Sheriff.

The County has established a toll-free number for passengers and family members to call at 866-435-9355.

Florida Governor Rick Scott tweeted that "All agencies 'working hard' and in unison."
