Ottawa/IBNS: Canada saw its biggest job increase since September 2020, when it added 259,000 jobs in Feb, Statistics Canada said on Friday.

The unemployment rate also shrunk down from 9.4 per cent to  8.2 per cent, the lowest rate since March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, exceeding analysts' expectations of 75,000 added jobs and an unemployment rate of 9.2 per cent.

According to Statistics Canada's Canadian Labour Force Survey, the labour market during February saw 12 months of unprecedented changes from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both part-time and full-time work increased, while the number of self-employed workers remained constant.
