Afghanistan: 17 militants killed

Kabul. Jan 9 (IBNS): Afghanistan's Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said Afghan National Security Forces planned and conducted a joint clearance operation to recapture Darqad district in the northern Takhar province which left 17 militants dead.

The operation started on Friday and is still in progress.

"17 militants were killed including a so-called Taliban district governor for Khowaja Bhaudin. So far no harm has been reported to Afghan National Security Forces," the MoI said in a statement.
