Kolai-Palas police in Pakistan's Kohistan region on Tuesday arrested three members of a jirga (a group of senior elders) who decided that a young girl, whose dancing video went video, be killed, media reports said.

The arrested men, including two paternal uncles of the deceased girl, are set to face legal proceedings as they will be presented before the local magistrate for physical remand, reported Dawn News.

Identified as Abdul Qayyum and Mohammad Naseer, these suspects played a pivotal role in the shocking decision made by the jirga, police told the newspaper.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Masood Khan told Dawn News the police force was actively conducting raids, particularly in the mountainous Barsharyal area of Kolai-Palas (Kohistan), to locate and apprehend all individuals involved in either orchestrating the murder or contributing to the jirga’s decision-making process.

The father of the victim, who was previously taken into custody, has now been handed over to the police by the Kolai-Palas magistrate on a seven-day remand.

A young girl was allegedly killed on the orders of a local jirga (an assembly of male elders) in Kohistan region of Pakistan recently, police said.

The victim was one of two girls who could be seen dancing with local boys in a video that went viral on social media platforms, Masood Khan, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Kolai-Palas, some 150km northwest of Mansehra, told Dawn News.
