At least one police personnel died in a suicide blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) region of Pakistan on Tuesday, media reports said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Gul Wali told Geo News that Addtional SHO Adnan Afridi died in the explosion.

According to details provided by the police, the blast took place when a suicide bomber hid inside the mosque after he saw officials of the law enforcement agency.

KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan told Geo News that the suspect blew himself up during the search inside the mosque.

Moreover, SHO Wali said that further details will be provided as it is currently unknown how many people are trapped under the debris of the mosque as it had collapsed during the blast.

Eyewitnesses told the newspaper that the mosque was empty when the blast took place.

Following the blast, security personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
