Dhaka: At least 15 security guards and workers were hurt when Bangladeshi and  Chinese workers clashed due to dissatisfaction over salaries and allowances at the under-construction 1,320 MW Rural Power Company Limited power plant in Bangladesh's Dhankhali area, media reports said.

Several vehicles and the power plant’s office were also vandalised during the clash, reports New Age Bangladesh.

The Kalapara police, along with upazila nirbahi officer, went to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control.

Additional police were deployed to the spot following the clash.

Four Bangladeshi workers, who were seriously injured in the incident, were identified as Obaidul, Shaheen Molla, Rakibul Islam and Zidan.

They were first admitted to Kalapara upazila health complex, and later shifted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment, the Bangladeshi newspaper reported.

The injured said that as some of their salary was being deducted in the name of service charge for a long time, they protested about the matter.
