Nepal's deadliest crash in 30 years: Black box of Yeti Airlines flight recovered

Kathmandu/Pokhara: The black box of the Yeti Airlines flight, which crashed in Pokhara on Sunday, has been recovered, media reports said on Monday.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) spokesperson Jagannath Niraula, it was discovered this morning. It has been handed over to the Nepali Army to be brought to Kathmandu and handed over to the Air Crash Investigation Commission, Niraula was quoted as saying in RSS, reports The Himalayan Times.

All 72 people on board the Yeti Airlines flight, which crashed in Nepal on Sunday, have died, airline spokesperson Pemba Sherpa confirmed.

"No survivors in this crash. There are 72 people dead including crew members," Sherpa told UNI.

A twin-engine turboprop ATR 72 passenger plane of Yeti Airlines crashed between the old and new Pokhara airports in central Nepal, while en route from the Nepali capital of Kathmandu to Pokhara, according to Sputnik news.

According to media reports, there were 68 passengers and four crew members on board.
