Nepal’s Supreme Court allows online delivery services

The apex court in Nepal directed authorities to allow home delivery services of online stores in the country during the COVID-19 lockdown. The interim order passed by the court overturned an earlier decision of the government that prohibited the sale of goods and services from e-commerce services.

The order was passed on Monday by a two-judge bench, Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal, directing the government not to pose any hindrance in the delivery of goods through online medium and also to allow e-commerce services to continue.

However, the interim order also directed service providers to adhere to all the COVID-19 safety protocols, reported The Himalayan Times. At a time when most parts in the country are under lockdown; shops and markets are closed; the ruling came as a big relief to consumers as well as e-commerce firms.
