Afghanistan: 27 killed as gunmen attack ceremony in Kabul

Kabul/IBNS: An attack took place at a ceremony on Friday, which was marking the anniversary of the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, leader of the Hezb-e Wahdat party, where Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and other politicians were attending,  and left 27 people killed, media reports said.

Nusrat Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, told Tolo News that according to their initial information, 27 people were killed, and 29 others were wounded in today's attack on the politicians' gathering in Kabul. 

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, former president Hamid Karzai, the head of the High Peace Council Mohammad Karim Khalili, Second Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq and a number of other politicians attended the event that was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, leader of the Hezb-e Wahdat party, reported the news portal.

The attack reportedly took place at around 11.20 am.

The gunmen reportedly attacked from a nearby under-construction building.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
