Bangladesh plane hijack: RAB identifies suspect as ‘listed criminal Polash’

Chittagong, Feb 25 (IBNS): RAB have identified the man killed in the commando operation during the hijacking bid in Bangladesh city of Chittagong as Md Polash Ahmed,media reports said.

RAB said the name and fingerprints of the deceased person were on the law enforcement criminal database.

RAB Law and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told bdnews24.com that the database named the suspect as Md Polash Ahmed, who hailed from Dudhghata in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon.

Following the commando operation on Sunday, security officials had named the deceased person initially as  ‘Mahadi’.

The commando operation took place in Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday.

Chattogram Police Commissioner Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman  was quoted as saying by bdnews24 news portal that on Sunday night that the weapon the suspect had on him was a ‘toy pistol’.
