11 soldiers killed, 16 hurt in Afghanistan military academy attack, IS claims responsibility

Kabul, Jan 29 (IBNS):  Eleven Afghan National Armey (ANA) soldiers and four suicide bombers were killed when terrorists attacked Marshal Fahim Military Academy in Afghanistan's Kabul city on Monday, media reports said.

Meanwhile, terrorist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.


SITE Intelligence Group tweeted: "‘Amaq Reports Immersive Attack by IS Fighters on Military Academy in Kabul."

Ministry of Defense spokesman Gen. Dawlat Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan New four suicide attackers stormed the 111th military corps unit at around 5:00am in the Gargha a locality of Kabul.

He said the gun battle has ended.

He said one of the attacker has been arrested.

The entire episode has left 16 security personnel, media reports said.

Afghanistan has witnessed three major terrorist attacks in the past few days.

Blood Stained January:

January- the first month of 2018- has witnessed Afghanistan witnessing several massive terrorists attack which claimed several lives.

Apart from Monday's attack, three more terrorist attacks shocked the Asian nation in the past few days.

A massive terrorist attack in Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel on Jan 20 left at least 22 people killed.

In another terror attack incident on Jan 24, at least four people were killed when Save the Children NGO was targeted in  Jalalabad city of the country.

The attack left dozens others injured.

Militant group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. 

In the third incident, a suicide blast left 103 people killed in Afghanistan capital Kabul on Saturday.

According to the official, an explosive filled ambulance was detonated at around 1 am, causing the damage.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident.
