Ukraine: Helicopter crash in Brovary town leaves minister, 15 others dead

Kyiv: Officials of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs - the minister, first deputy minister and the state secretary- were among the 16 people who died as a helicopter crashed in  Brovary town of Ukraine on Wednesday.

The minister was identified as Denys Monastyrsky.

The deceased included two children.

In total, 16 people, including two children, have died. There were nine people on board the helicopter. 22 victims, including 10 children, are in the hospital, reports Ukrinform.

Chief of the National Police Ihor Klymenko confirmed the development on Facebook and said: "This morning, January 18, in brovary crashed screw dsns. As a result of the plane crash, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was killed: Minister, First Deputy Minister and State Secretary."

"A total of 16 dead are now known, including 2 children. 9 of them were on board the rifle.22 victims are in the hospital, of which 10 children.All specialized and specialized services work on site. The scene review is underway," he said.

According to reports, the helicopter crashed close to a kindergarten and a residential building.
