Sierra Leone: Tanker explosion close to Freetown leaves 91 people dead
Freetown: As many as 91 people died due to a tanker explosion in the Freetown suburbs in Sierra Leone on Friday.
Mohamed Lamrane Bah, director of communications for Sierra Leone's National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), told CNN that several people were also in critical condition following the explosion.
Deeply saddened to hear about the explosion along Bai Bureh Road, Wellington, after a bowser carrying fuel collided with a truck. My sympathies go to the families and loved ones of the victims of the explosion. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace #FreetownMourns

The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr expressed sympathy and tweeted: "Deeply saddened to hear about the explosion along Bai Bureh Road, Wellington, after a bowser carrying fuel collided with a truck. My sympathies go to the families and loved ones of the victims of the explosion. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace #FreetownMourns."
