Moscow, Mar 8 (Sputnik/UNI): Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit Indonesia this year, most likely in the second half of 2019, Russian Ambassador to the South Asian country Lyudmila Vorobyova told Sputnik.

"Maybe – I would not like to say it definitely – the Russian president will visit Indonesia this year. This is likely to take place in the second half of the year because in April, Indonesia will hold presidential and parliamentary elections.

That is why, we can speak only about the second half of the year," Vorobyova explained.

In August 2017, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a visit to Jakarta, where he held talks with his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi.

In March 2018, Marsudi arrived in Moscow and discussed prospects for boosting bilateral cooperation during talks with Lavrov.
