If you’re looking for a place to travel with tons of culture, tasty cuisines, and inspiring landscapes, you should think about booking a trip to India. The country has managed to maintain true to its culture while modernizing certain elements of its everyday life, and the results are truly awe-inspiring. From its structures to its closeness to nature, India is well worth a visit.

Here are three things you have to experience during your trip to India.

The Taj Mahal

As one of the most popular tourist attractions in India—if not the most popular—The Taj Mahal is an incredible sight to behold. The white-ivory marble mausoleum can be found within the city of Agra, standing roughly 240 feet tall and surrounded by four towers. Construction of the building began after Emperor Shah Jahan’s favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died in 1631, and it took 20,000 men until 1648 to finish. It holds both the emperor and his former wife and is widely considered the greatest monument to love. Catching sight of it just after sunset is just about one of the most beautiful sights you can see.

Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary

Stepping away from civilization for a moment, the Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is another worthwhile visit. The park is home to a wide spectrum of wildlife, including Indian elephants, otters, wild boar, Bengal tigers, the lion-tailed macaque, countless kinds of birds and butterflies, and more. The park can be experienced via a guided jungle hike or a cruise, but both are uniquely special in their own right. Be sure to have a camera handy!

The Many Cities, Forts, Temples, and Palaces

India is no stranger to amazing structures, specifically in regard to its many cities, forts, palaces, and temples. Some of their most frequently visited include the holy city of Varanasi, The Golden Temple of Amritsar, Jaisalmer, The Red Fort in New Dehli, Mumbai, the Mecca Masjid, Amer Fort in Jaipur, Agra Fort, Mehrangarh Fort, Mahabodhi Temple, and the Mysore Palace, among countless others. These incredible structures act as monuments to India’s long history and culture, and being able to experience them firsthand is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Book Your Trip

India is a beautiful place to visit, with immaculate temples, palaces, and forts sprinkled throughout the land and gorgeous scenery to bask in around every corner—not to mention delicious food to enjoy. Other great locations include the Ellora Caves, the Gangas River, and the beaches of Goa.

So do yourself a favor and take a week or two off work, because regardless of if you work out on the field or at a medical facility like Northwest Surgery Center, you owe it to yourself to experience this rich country.
